- 12 weeks to MVP, ongoing partnership
A founding team with deep freight expertise and a validated waitlist needed a real product: live shipment tracking, dispatcher workflows, customer portals, and billing, all before their launch commitments came due.
The domain is unforgiving: carrier data arrives in inconsistent formats, connectivity fails mid-route, and a dispatcher's screen has to answer 'where is my freight?' in seconds.
What we did
The approach, decision by decision
- 01
Scoped an MVP around the dispatcher, not the demo
Shadowed dispatch teams for a week before writing code. The MVP cut three planned modules and doubled down on the tracking board that operators live in all day.
- 02
Built a resilient ingestion pipeline
Normalized carrier updates from EDI, webhooks, and driver-app pings into a single event stream with idempotent processing, so bad data degrades gracefully instead of corrupting state.
- 03
Launched on a weekly release train
CI/CD with preview environments from day one meant customer feedback landed in production the same week: 41 releases in the first quarter.
The results
- First paying customers onboarded at week 12; three-market expansion within a year.
- Platform now tracks 50,000+ shipments monthly with sub-second board updates.
- Dispatchers report 38% less time per shipment versus their previous tooling.
- The client's own engineering hires onboarded from our docs in under a week.
